During week three we explored colors, colors and more colors! We made tissue paper bowls and tissue paper collages.

Another class explored color by blending shades of colors and then using patterned paint rollers, created abstract pieces that we turned into art frames.

Towards the end of the week, we began to look for colors in countless magazine images in order to create our very own color wheels!
The start of our collaged color wheel.
Next week brings more art and Beautification Day!!
At the close of week two our work wall is nearly full (after being expanded to fit some large pieces) and we have 9 pieces on display in the Coffee Shop scheduled to open next week! Pictured in this post are some of the warm and cool color woven pieces created this week, the latest look at our student work wall and a sneak peek at an upcoming weaving project!
Speaking of upcoming projects…we need your help! We need water bottles and soda bottles as well as t-shirts for a couple of big upcoming projects! The bottles will be used to create bouquets and centerpieces for the upcoming Open House (September 19th at 6:30pm) and the t-shirts for some textile weaving projects we have planned. Any t-shirts will do (printed, tye-dyed, plain-they all work) as long as they do not have a seam up the side of the shirt.

Thanks for your help and support of the arts at Alden Road!
It’s the middle of the second week of school and we are working at the fastest speed imaginable! We have been painting using warm (red, orange and yellow) and cool (green, blue and purple) color families, blending watercolors and tempera paints. We began to work with tissue paper, collaging layers upon layers of color. We worked with textiles to add a sensory element to our work. We made a couple more mobiles and we are about to start some weaving projects!
Below are a few pictures of what we’ve been doing and how the classroom is evolving…
Here is a before shot of one of the circle paintings we created
