Welcome to a new year in the Alden Road art class! The second week of school just ended and we haven’t posted yet because we’ve been so busy!! We promise to do better in the coming weeks!
So far this year we have studied lines, shapes and patterns as well as Kandinsky and Mondrian. We have also begun to create t-shirt rugs for the upcoming Fall Fest Market Day (October 17th)!
The first BIG art event of the school year is coming up on Friday, September 12th. This is Beautification Day at Alden Road. On Beautification Day, we will be taking our art projects outside!
The art class will be turning the basketball court into a painting and printmaking surface on Beautification Day for the “Art Roll Project.”
We will be creating large paintings using pogo stampers, wheelchairs and large rolling printmaking equipment that can be pushed or attached to wheelchairs and rolled around on the canvas. We are CRAZY excited for this event and have already begun some of the prep work! Pictured here are peeks at some of our work so far and a glimpse at the equipment that will be used for the Art Roll Project.
A special thank you to The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens for letting us borrow some of this incredible equipment!
We can’t wait to get started and to see what else this year brings! Visit our blog often for updates, pictures of our work, upcoming events or posts about events and resources for how visual art and therapeutic arts can benefit you!
