Art Roll Project: Our first BIG outdoor art event!!!

Friday, September 12th marked Beautification Day at Alden Road, but it was also the day of our first-ever outdoor art event: The Art Roll Project!!

Although there were storms everyday earlier in the week, we enjoyed a hot, sunny, and dry day on Friday for this large group project!

Classes around the school were able to sign up for time slots to join the regularly scheduled art classes in this large printmaking project in which we used pogo stampers (large stamps made from spring loaded pogo-like sticks), large print rollers and wheelchairs to paint paper and fabric spread out on the basketball court.

The result: one HUGE colorful art piece!!!

Enjoy the pictures featured here of this special day! *We’ll have more pictures posted soon, but hopefully these will peak your curiosity!

We are looking forward to this Thursday, the 18th which is our Open House!

Beautification Day is this Friday!

This week we make our final preparations for our first big art event of the year: the Art Roll Project!

The plan for this project is to use the basketball court outside as a large painting area. The court will be covered in paper and fabric which we will then roll (using both wheelchairs and print rollers that can be pushed while walking) and stamp with the print designs created in class! The effect will be large pieces of layered paintings incorporating multiple colors and designs.

Ten classes are scheduled to participate throughout the day. We can’t wait to see what is created on this exciting day!
